Moss can really take hold on older roofs over time. It doesn’t just spoil the look – it can also hold onto moisture, which puts extra stress on tiles and makes gutters fill up faster. This property in Old Harlow had exactly that problem across the main roof and the lower level at the back.
We started with a full inspection to check for any loose tiles and make sure the valley area was sound before cleaning. One small repair was needed to the valley, which we took care of while we were there.
For the clean itself, we used hand tools only – a scraper and a stiff brush – to remove all moss and debris carefully from every section of the roof. We never use jet washers or high-pressure equipment as that can damage tiles or force water where it shouldn’t go.
Both the front and rear of the property were fully cleared, including the lower roof at the back. Once everything was clean, we made sure the gutters were clear too and left the site tidy. All waste was taken away with us, leaving the roof looking fresh again and ready for whatever the weather throws at it.
We completed this job using our own access gear, so there were no delays waiting for scaffolding. The result speaks for itself – a much cleaner, healthier roof and another happy customer.
The homeowner left a great review after the work was done:
