SM Roofline completed a flat roof replacement and cladding installation at this Chelmsford property. The work brought together an insulated EPDM warm roof, horizontal Silver Birch cladding, white uPVC soffits and white square guttering around the entrance.
The photographs follow the project from the existing roof through the installation stages to the finished exterior. They also show parts of the roof construction that are covered once the work is complete.
Replacing the existing flat roof
We removed and disposed of the existing roof covering and replaced the timber deck with new OSB3 boards as part of the warm roof construction.
The system incorporated a vapour control layer and 100mm PIR insulation, mechanically fixed for the timber deck. Above this, we installed the EPDM rubber membrane.
The membrane was cold-applied in one continuous sheet across the main roof area, avoiding seams across that main section. Suitable perimeter trims finished the edges, with white uPVC soffits and white square guttering completing the roof works.
A closer look during installation
The during-work photographs show the insulation before the finished roof covering was in place. In the completed photographs, that layer is hidden beneath the EPDM membrane.
They also show the entrance with its previous cladding removed. These stages help show the scope of the work alongside the finished result.
Horizontal cladding in Silver Birch
We removed the old cladding and battens to expose the underlying structure. A breathable layer was installed before new treated timber battens were fitted.
EnviroBuild Explorer cladding in Silver Birch was then installed horizontally, without butt joints to the panels and using manufacturer-supplied or specified fixings and accessories.
The light grey finish sits alongside the property’s existing white door and window frames, with the new white roofline components completing the exterior.
