This project involved a full roofline replacement at a residential property in Ware, Hertfordshire. The work covered the front, side and rear elevations of the property, along with the lower level to the front.
The installation included the removal and replacement of the existing fascia, soffits, guttering and associated downpipes, along with the installation of new uPVC cladding to sections of the property.
The aim of the work was to replace ageing roofline components and install modern materials that provide a neat, consistent finish across the property.
The work formed part of the type of roofline projects regularly carried out across Hertfordshire and nearby areas, including locations such as Harlow, Sawbridgeworth and Bishops Stortford.
Removing the Existing Roofline
The first stage of the installation involved the removal of all existing fascia boards, soffits and guttering around the property.
This allowed the roofline structure to be fully exposed so the rafter feet could be inspected.
Where any rot or deterioration was found, repairs were carried out before the new roofline was installed. Carrying out these repairs at this stage allows the new fascia boards to be securely fixed and provides a solid base for the replacement installation.
All existing guttering and associated downpipes were removed as part of this process.
Installing New Fascia and Soffits
Once the preparation work was completed, the new roofline system was installed using the customer’s selected materials.
The installation included:
- 18mm uPVC fascia boards
- 10mm uPVC soffit boards
The fascia boards were installed along the eaves of the roofline and fitted with ventilation at the eaves to allow airflow into the roof space.
Ventilation at this point plays an important role in maintaining airflow within the roof structure.
Where required, drip trays and bird combs were fitted to assist with water management and prevent birds from entering the roof area.
Together, the fascia and soffit system forms the main visible part of the roofline and creates a clean finish along the edge of the roof.
Replacing Guttering and Downpipes
With the new fascia boards in place, the next stage involved installing a replacement guttering system around the property.
New guttering was fitted along the front, side and rear elevations, along with the necessary downpipes to manage rainwater drainage from the roof.
The new system replaces the previous guttering and forms part of the complete roofline upgrade carried out during the project.
Cladding Installation
This project also included the installation of uPVC cladding to sections of the property.
Cladding was installed across the upper elevation of the property, along with the lower section to the front, providing a consistent finish alongside the newly installed roofline components.
The new cladding replaces the previous surface and forms part of the overall external update completed during the works.
Access and Installation Process
All work was carried out using SM Roofline’s own access equipment, which allowed the installation team to safely reach all areas of the roofline.
This approach allowed the team to complete the work efficiently across the front, side and rear elevations of the property.
Once the installation was completed, the work area was cleared, all waste materials were removed and the property was left clean and tidy.
